Colorado Ski Resorts: Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail
Overview
Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail are great options for ski trips because they have awesome terrain, high average snowfall, and well-developed villages. Not to mention, these resorts are close enough together that you can try them all on the same ski trip if you have a car. Epic Pass or Ikon Pass?
Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail ski resorts are all on the Epic pass, which means you can have a great ski trip without breaking the bank.
Snowfall
The ski resorts in Colorado are known for tons of fluffy snow so there's a good chance you'll get some fresh snow on your ski trip if you stay for a week or more. According to the website OnTheSnow, these ski resorts historically have gotten the following amount of snow per year:
Breckenridge Ski Resort: Average annual snowfall of 293" (consistent Dec-Mar)(https://www.onthesnow.com/colorado/breckenridge/historical-snowfall)
Keystone Ski Resort: Average annual snowfall of 210" (consistent Dec-Mar)(https://www.onthesnow.com/colorado/keystone/historical-snowfall)
Vail Ski Resort: Average annual snowfall of 245" (consistent Dec-Mar)(https://www.onthesnow.com/colorado/vail/historical-snowfall)
Getting There
We recommend flying into Denver and then taking a shuttle from the airport to the ski resorts (there are many options that are reasonably priced). You can also rent a car but it can be difficult to get a rental car with 4WD/AWD and not all rental properties around Breckenridge or Vail have free parking available (so be ready for added cost).
